Tabernemontana (lat.Tabernaemontana) is a genus of evergreen shrubs of the Kutrovy family, common in the coastal zone of South and Central America, Southeast Asia, as well as tropical and subtropical regions of Africa. Relatives of tabernemontana are periwinkle, poisonous oleander and mandeville. The name of the genus in 1703 was given by Charles Plumier in honor of the German physician Jacob Theodor Tabernemontanus, who is considered "the father of German botany".
